Countess Automated Cell Counter

Overview

The Invitrogen Countess Cell Counter easily counts live and dead cells accurately and fast – displaying visual results in 30 seconds. The instrument uses Trypan blue staining with image analysis software to provide cell density and viability data for cell populations between 10^4-10^7 cells/mL, sized 5-60 um. The unit also houses a dilution calculator to assist with sub-culturing.

The countess is also compatible with counting particles and beads, sized 5-60um.

The Countess must be used with compatible cell counting chamber slides. These plastic, disposable slides hold the sample in two separate chambers (A and B) for replicates. The entire volume counted is 0.4 ?L, the same as counting four (1 mm × 1 mm) squares, similar to a standard hemocytometer. Samples are typically pipette into the chamber. Chamber slides are available to purchase from the BI.
