Culture Lab – Bacterial

Overview

Dedicated bacterial culture lab with the following equipment

  • Biological Safety Cabinets: 2 x 4 ft and 1 x 6 ft Baker cabinet, A2 Type II; NSF49 standards.
  • Centrifuges: ST40R and 21R; suitable for microtubes and larger sample tubes (15mL & 50mL), with aerosol containment; units with “R” indicate refrigeration capabilities.
  • Incubators (x2): VWR General Purpose Digital Incubators; range: Ambient+8oC to 70oC.
  • Shaking incubators: Max6000 & Max8000 & Max8000R; each with optional orbital shaking; compatible with culture tubes, Erlenmeyer (baffled) flasks and microplates; units with “R” indicate refrigeration capabilities.
  • Plate Reader: Tecan M200 Infinite Pro with absorbance (230 to 1000nm) and fluorescence modules; suitable for obtaining OD and live/dead fluorescence assay measurements.
  • Spectrometer: Ultrospec 3000pro; suitable for absorbance readings with standard cuvettes
  • Water baths: Thermo Fisher Precision Water bath; range: Ambient+5oC to 100oC.
  • Ultrasonic water bath: Bransonic M1800H, with mechanical timer and heater.
  • Cold storage: 4oC Fridge, -20°C Freezer, -80°C Freezer.
