X-Ray Photoelectron Spectrometer (XPS)

Overview

Image of XPS

The Quantera II Imaging and Scanning X-Ray Photoelectron Spectrometer (XPS; PHI Electronics) uses mono-energetic X-rays to irradiate a sample, causing photoelectrons to be emitted from the surface.

The binding energy and intensity of photoelectron peaks are detected and can provide elemental identity, chemical state information, and elemental quantification.

This instrument is technician run. Please refer to our sample submission page for more information or contact us directly.

Instrument
Uses

  • Element Identification
  • Element Quantification
  • Chemical State Analysis
  • High-Throughput
  • Non-destructive

Sample
Requirements

  • Solids, no liquids
  • If analysis is to be on a solid substrate, ensure the area is  less than 75 mm x 75 mm

System
Requirements

  • This instrument is technician run; samples must be submitted for analysis
