Sample Submissions
The BI offers fee-for-service analysis for all our instruments.
The XPS, MALDI and MaXis are typically technician run instruments and require sample submissions.
The process for sample submission differs based on whether the request is from our internal McMaster community, or external clients, as outlined below. If you aren’t sure of which process applies to your work, please email us.
All clients submitting samples will need to be setup within our user management system, InfinityX. For more information on this software, check out our InfinityX Resource page.
The McMaster community can also become trained to use some equipment independently. For more information on becoming a “BI User”, navigate to our BI Access & Training page.

Instructions for the Internal McMaster Community
- Sample submissions are processed via Infinity X.
- Your Infinity X account must be linked to the BI Facility.
- Log into Infinity X and from the left menu, select “BI Sample Submissions” and follow the workflow to provide information on your sample details and analysis type.
Instructions for External Clients
- Please email us with details of your samples and what analysis you would like performed. Our management team will connect you with the appropriate technical staff member.
- Please note: new customers will need to be set up within our McMaster billing system prior to any analysis.
